Announcement of death of the Sovereign
- Union Flag lowered to half mast on all official buildings
First day after the announcement
- Proclamation Day - The Union Flag begins the day at half mast, but is raised at 11am for the Proclamation of the new Sovereign
- Books of condolence are opened. An online version is available on Cambridgeshire County Council's website and are also available in larger libraries, Shire Hall and South Cambridgeshire Hall
Second day after the announcement
- Flags remain flying at the top of the mast head
- The Proclamation of the new Sovereign will be read in national capitals and other cities around the country, including Cambridge and Peterborough
- The reading of the Proclamation on the balcony of the Guidhall in Cambridge at 1pm will be filmed and a video of the reading will be posted on Cambridgeshire County Council's website
- Following the reading of the Proclamation, civic leaders will lay flowers in an expression of sadness at the death of The Queen
- Following the reading of the Proclamation, flags will be returned to half mast
Ninth day after the announcement
- Thanksgiving Services will be held at Great St Mary's Church in Cambridge, Ely Cathedral and Peterborough Cathedral
Tenth day after the announcement (Day of the State Funeral)
- Flags will continue to be flown at half mast up to and including the day of the State Funeral
- 11am The Chairman of the Council will lead a small gathering as the people of Cambridgeshire observe a two minute silence to mark the day of the State Funeral
Eleventh day after the announcement
- Flags will be flown at full mast
- Books of condolence close.
