Announcement

One Leisure Centres have now reopened. We are currently contacting those who have time left on the scheme in order to see if they now wish to resume and complete their remaining weeks. We will then be working through those referrals on our wait list.

At present the scheme still remains closed to brand new referrals until further notice.

If you have any questions please contact exercise.referral@huntingdonshire.gov.uk.

What is the Exercise Referral Scheme?

The Exercise Referral Scheme has been helping residents of Huntingdonshire become more active and to manage their health condition through supported self-care. You will be assisted throughout the scheme by a named Physical Activity Specialist, helping you to enjoy and maintain physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.

There are currently over 300 health professionals (GPs, physiotherapists, nurses, occupational therapists etc) from 50 agencies (surgeries, hospitals and clinics) registered to refer people to the district's One Leisure facilities.

The scheme is run by Huntingdonshire District Council’s Active Lifestyles Team to help improve the health of the community, promote active healthy lifestyles and help decrease sedentary-related illnesses.

Detailed information can be found in the Exercise Referral Scheme Outline [PDF, 0.1MB] and the Annual Health Professional Update 2017 [PDF, 3.5MB].
