Memorial seats
We can allocate existing benches in the following parks as memorial seats:
How much does it cost?
Seat allocation is £250. This includes maintenance of the seat for 10 years and a standard 6”x2” plaque. Additional plaques for the same seat are £80 each. Maintenance of the plaque, such as polishing, is your responsibility. Please note that seats remain the property of the council and will be maintained or replaced by us as appropriate.
At the end of 10 years it may be possible to renew the memorial.
Celebratory trees
You can apply to have a tree planted on HDC-owned land to mark a significant event or as a celebration to a loved one. 
A celebration tree can be planted for many reasons - births, anniversaries, milestones, memorials, celebrations of life and achievements.
How much does it cost?
The cost for a celebration tree is £250 per tree. This contributes toward the initial purchase of a 3-4 metre standard sized tree and supports, the planting of the tree and a two-year after-care package. Once planted, there is a 12-month replacement guarantee if the tree does not take or is vandalised in the first year.
When and where will the tree be planted?
Trees are planted between November and March to ensure the best opportunity for newly planted trees to take.

What type of tree will be planted?
Our arboricultural team will suggest tree species suitable for the chosen area. However, if there is a particular tree species you would like we will try out best to accommodate this.
Can I have a plaque?
Yes, you can place a plaque at the base of the tree. This should be no bigger than 6 x 4 inches and you are responsible for supplying and maintaining the plaque.
